Biography

After obtaining a Degree in Music with a specialization in saxophone at the Conservatori del Liceu de Barcelona, he graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston (USA) with a Degree in Composition. He also holds a Degree in Jazz and Modern Music from ESMUC in Barcelona.

With a musical open mind he has worked as performer, composer, conductor and educator in many projects with different music styles, mostly classic and jazz music.

As a performer he has taken part in many projects and instrumental ensembles, and he has played on the major Spanish and International venues (Rome, Paris, Beirut, Buenos Aires, and Belem do Pará). His last album is “No era lluny ni difícil” (It wasn’t  far away or difficult), based on the poetry of Joan Margarit, one of the best contemporary spanish poets. The album was presented in 2013 at the 45th Jazz Festival of Barcelona.

As a composer and conductor he has worked for different types of ensembles: Big Band, symphonic orchestra, and small ensembles. He has recently composed and conducted: the Girona Jazz Project (Spain), Santa Fe Jazz Ensamble (Argentina), Sam Big Band (Brazil), Brussels Jazz Orchestra (Belgium), Julià Carbonell Symphony Orchestra (Spain). He has also composed music for documentaries and many TV commercials.

As an educator He has been teaching saxophone, piano, harmony and improvisation for twenty years. Based on his experience, he has developed teaching strategies to maximize the talent of each student. He has also given master classes in composition and arranging at the University of the Litoral in Argentina and at the University of Belem do Pará in Brazil.
